ASNIK India is the organisation behind SIGMA. The initiative is led by a multidisciplinary team including professionals and alumni associated with institutions such as IIT Bombay, IIM Bangalore and VJTI Mumbai, supported by extensive engagement with students, parents and educational institutions. The team's objective is not simply to create another educational product. It is to contribute towards making quality education more accessible, affordable and understandable.

In 2015, the ASNIK team set out to understand the educational challenges faced by families in the interiors of India. The team travelled across Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, covering more than 10,000 km, interacting with approximately 30,000 families, visiting 350+ schools and speaking with students and parents to understand their educational needs. Three challenges emerged repeatedly: • Affordability: Good educational resources can be difficult for families to afford. • Access to Quality Guidance: Students may not always have access to proficient teachers and guidance. • Internet Dependency: Inconsistent internet connectivity makes online learning difficult. THE IDEA: What If Good Education Could Travel With the Student? SIGMA was conceived as an offline-first educational ecosystem combining quality academic content, structured learning and exam preparation in a format students access at their own pace: "Learn at your level. Practice at your pace. Progress step by step."
